We have acquired a very solid experie nce
in organising races of the extreme, here we go again for a new thrilling
(exciting) adventure, which will be the second event of the Hoggar Marathon;
thus, this will, definitely, put us amongst the major organisers of international
races of the extreme.
All those who have had the opportunity to take part in the first event
know that the race is not an easy one and, surely, as most of us do, they
already dream to return for a new challenge in that magnificent desert.
Those, who will take part for the first time in this event, must expect
a very tough race, constituted of four different legs. They will encounter
various difficulties which will require many strategies, depending on
the state of the tracks, unevenness of the soils; some of the times; it
is stony, at other times, it is sandy or rocky. They will have the pleasure
to run, at one’s own pace, in the heart of the country of the ‘blue’
people (the Touareg) , in a magnificent impressive setting of rocky site,
at an altitude varying at between 1, 400 and 2, 700 metre.
Although, it is a team-race, each participant may enjoy exceptional moments
of personal thrills and loneliness, at some stages in the tracks, when,
alone, he would be faced with the vastness of the desert. In order to
allow you to live fully your own pleasure to run, our support teams would
provide you, all along the different stages, with a permanent support
with four-wheel trucks. Thus, besides precise sign posts all along the
tracks, and a medical team, ready to assist you at all times; drinking-water-supply
sites, energizing drinks and high calories food will be available every
ten kilometre.
At the end of each leg, we will provide you with camp sites. You will
find ‘Touareg’ tents to relax, and a large tent, for any medical-care,
you may need; as well as tents for, four to ten people, to sleep in. Of
course, although water is impossible to find in this desert environment,
a mobile water-tank would, nonetheless, be available for your daily hygiene.
There would, indeed, be no constraint as far as mineral-water is concerned.
While lunch, for practical reasons, will be a cold snack, given to the
contenders as they arrive; diner, on the other hand, which would regroup
the whole of the caravan around a big wood-fire, will be a hot meal, followed
by a mint-tea, prepared by our friends the ‘Touareg’, which
we will share with them in a very friendly atmosphere.
This wonderful adventure will come to an end at Tamanrasset. At a farewell
party will be given during which the final results of the marathon will
be announced and the best competitors will be rewarded. There is little
doubt that each one of us will leave, most probably exhausted, but richer
with deep emotions and endless memories, thinking already to renew this
very exciting adventure.
